Wenjie(Jeff)Li
I am a Ph.D. student in the Mechanical Systems Control Lab at UC Berkeley and a member of Berkeley AI Research (BAIR), advised by Prof. Masayoshi Tomizuka. My current research focuses on tactile sensing–empowered dexterous manipulation.
Previously, I was a visiting undergraduate researcher at Stanford University through the UGVR program and at Harvard University through the VURI program. I received my bachelor’s degrees from Tsinghua University. During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to work with Prof. Zhenan Bao, Prof. Katia Bertoldi, and Prof. Huichan Zhao.

Research
I study how robots can acquire, interpret, and act on physical information through interaction.
My research broadly explores physical intelligence for dexterous and efficient robot–world interaction. I investigate the mechanics of contact, tactile sensing as an active channel for acquiring interaction information, and learning strategies that incorporate touch into manipulation policies. My current work centers on tactile-enabled dexterous manipulation.
